"Amazing people, breath-taking scenery and more moose than you can poke a stick at.

"We moved to the Northern Peninsula from Vancouver, BC, but are both Australian. When we decided to relocate to the northern-most tip of a province on the other side of the country, we were told we were completely mad. Now that we're here, all we can do is tell people how awesome it is.

"We made the move for employment reasons, to work at the Northern Pen Newspaper. The hardest part of our move was finding somewhere to rent, but we were lucky and, through a workmate, found a place.

"Since we arrived we have had the good fortune to meet people from all across the Northern Peninsula -- Englee to Griquet, Eddies Cove to Cow Head. While the distances between the communities may be vast, the people you meet at either end make up for it. We've been given lashings of partridgeberry jam on freshly-baked bread, hand-knitted woolen socks, bags of capelin, snow crab and lobster, bottled moose, caribou and herring and all manner of friendly waves, nods and, of course, the odd shove out of the snow when we got stuck.

"We've been out on fishing boats, seen tons of icebergs, watched Vikings play around in a sod hut, hiked past moose, been ice fishing and sat on the back of snow machines as they shoot across the barrens.

"The one tip? If someone says "come over for a cup of tea anytime," they really do mean 'anytime'. Reach out to your neighbours and they will reach out to you!"
