Pond Cove is a small fishing community. Today the population consists of twenty families. The community was named after a small pond found in the middle of the community.

Pond Cove is a quiet place to pick berries, dig clams, or take in a scenic nature walk. Family names that can be found in the community include Chambers, Gibbons, Kennedy, Mitchelmore, Toope, Wells, and Williams.

Community and business services for Pond Cove residents include a K-12 school, Viking Trail Academy (located 5kms in Plum Point. Health care is provided in Port Saunders at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre, 115 kms south or Straits of Belle Isle Clinic Flowers Cove Clinic 35 kms north. Regional fire service is based in nearby Bird Cove. Additional community, recreational and business services are found in the communities in the Plum Point/St. Barbe area and south (115 kms) in Hawkes Bay, Port au Choix & Port Saunders.

In addition, there is an abundance of wildlife and birds throughout the region for tourist visiting Pond Cove.
